Almost all wall hanging advertising machine specifications are written "brightness 350 nits" or "500 nits", but very few manufacturers mark this figure is measured under what conditions. The real situation in the industry is that a considerable part of the nominal value of brightness comes from the manufacturer's self-test, and the ambient temperature, test duration and measurement method are not disclosed. More critical is the difference between "peak brightness" and "continuous brightness"-some models can touch the nominal value instantaneously under laboratory conditions, but the brightness decays below 60% after half an hour of continuous operation. For commercial projects that require 16/7 or even 24/7 operation, continuous brightness is the valid parameter.
Dynamic contrast 5000:1 and static contrast 5000:1 are two completely different things. Dynamic contrast increases the data by adjusting the backlight to switch between light and dark images. In essence, it reflects the dimming range of the backlight and does not reflect the light and dark level capability of the panel itself. Commercial purchases should only look at static contrast (also known as native contrast), which is between 1000:1 and 4000:1 in the industry. A machine marked "dynamic contrast 100000:1" but with a static contrast of only 1200:1 will have a clear sense of fog when displaying menus, charts and dark background brand content.
Panel grade is the most implicit parameter that affects after-sales costs in bulk procurement. The A- screen standard prevailing in the industry allows the total number of bad points on the whole screen to not exceed 5, and no bad points are allowed in the central area. Regulation A requires no bright spots and less than 3 dark spots. Regulation A is the zero bad point and is usually used in medical and military scenes. The B- gauge screen allows 5 to 10 bad points, and the price is about 60% to 70% of the-gauge screen. The problem is: many factories in the quotation according to the B- screen cost accounting, delivery with "in line with industry standards" prevarication, and engineering customers get a batch of central area has dark spots, need to check the screen one by one equipment.
The size selection of the wall-mounted advertising machine has a quantifiable starting point: the farthest viewing distance. The AVIXA DISCAS standard recommends that the ratio of the farthest viewing distance to the effective height of the picture be used as the basis for judgment, rather than estimating according to the area of the site. The simplified engineering experience is that when the picture height is approximately equal to 1/6 of the farthest viewing distance, ordinary text and image content can be comfortably recognized.
| Scene | Typical Dimensions | farthest viewing distance reference | brightness interval |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elevator Hall/Corridor | 32-43 inches (81-109cm) | 2-4 m | 350–400 nits |
| Cashier/Small Store | 32-43 inches | 2-3 m | 350–450 nits |
| Retail Stores/Catering Menu Area | 43-55 inches (109-140cm) | 3-6 m | 500–700 nits |
| Hotel Lobby/Public Areas | 50-65 inches (127-165cm) | 5-10 meters | 450–600 nits |
| Near window/inside of window | 43-55 inches | 2-6 m | 700 nits above anti-glare |
FHD(1920 × 1080, commonly known as 2K) has a PPI of about 51 on a 43-inch wall-mounted advertising machine. At a viewing distance of 2 meters away, normal vision cannot see pixel particles. The value of 4K appears in three situations: the viewing distance is within 1.5 meters, the content contains a large amount of fine text or data tables, or the need to make multiple window partitions in one screen. If a 55-inch device only circulates promotional posters and brand videos, the difference between 2K and 4K in actual perception is far less than the impact of panel brightness uniformity and color consistency.
An easily overlooked point:Choosing 4K means higher demands on the SoC's decoding capabilities and system storage. If the 4K panel is matched with an entry-level chip that can barely decode 1080P multi-channel video, in actual use, there will be a situation of frame dropping when playing 4K material with a large code rate and frame dropping when playing multiple windows at the same time. 4K is not just a screen parameter, it is a system-level configuration.
The touch module will increase the cost, thickness and heat dissipation burden of the whole machine. For conventional wall-mounted items that only do circular advertising, menu display and information release, touch control is over-configured. The scenarios that really need touch are: users need to actively query (navigation, self-service), interactive ordering, and on-site data entry. If there is no "user needs to operate the screen by hand" clause in the project requirements, the budget for the touch section can be shifted to a higher brightness or better panel level.
Many quotations write "Android system", but do not write specific version and memory configuration. In actual deployment, the configuration of 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM will be obviously difficult when running multi-window playback and CMS clients-the remaining resources after the system itself is occupied are limited, and the response is prone to be slow when switching content or receiving remote updates. For projects that need to be connected to CMS for remote management, it is recommended that RAM should not be less than 2GB and ROM should not be less than 16GB to ensure the margin of local cache and system operation. If the content contains multiple HD video or larger material packages, 4GB RAM 32GB ROM is a more secure starting point.
| Networking method | Applicable conditions | Confirmation required during procurement |
|---|---|---|
| Ethernet (LAN) | Clear requirements for fixed installation, batch deployment and remote management | Whether DHCP/static IP is supported and the number of RJ45 interfaces |
| Wi-Fi | Limited wiring, equipment position may be adjusted | Supported Bands (2.4G / 5G), Antenna Design |
| 4G / 5G | Unable to network, temporary activities, distributed points | SIM card slot type, tariff responsible party, signal strength requirements |
For overseas engineering projects, Ethernet is always the first choice-when deployed in batches, the stability and manageability of wired connections are much higher than wireless. Wi-Fi is suitable as a supplement, but should not be used as the only means of networking. The 4G scheme requires additional confirmation: who will bear the traffic cost, whether the equipment supports remote SIM management, and whether there is a disconnection and reconnection mechanism in weak signal areas.
The continuous operation level is essentially a promise of heat dissipation capability. Wall mounting makes the back of the device fit closely with the wall, and the heat dissipation space itself is limited. Commercial wall-mounted advertising machines that truly support 24/7 operation usually adopt fanless convection cooling structure or active temperature control system, with industrial-grade power modules. If the specification of a device says "support 24/7 operation" but does not describe a cooling scheme, the credibility of this promise needs to be compromised. A more pragmatic approach is to require the supplier to provide a description of the heat dissipation structure (air duct design, fan-free, power module level), and to do at least 72 hours of continuous operation verification during the prototype test phase.
Many factories can provide CE, FCC and RoHS certificates, but the models covered by the certificates are inconsistent with the actual shipping models. The common practice in the industry is to use a certified model certificate to cover multiple models of the same series, but the differences in power module, wireless module and interface configuration of different models may lead to certification failure. For overseas projects, the Purchaser shall require the Supplier to provide coverageSpecific procurement modelThe certification document, not the "same series of reference certificates".
The most likely dispute in the warranty clause is not the number of years, but the boundary of responsibility. If a wall-mounted advertising machine sent to the Middle East or South America fails, return freight, maintenance labor, spare parts supply cycle, and alternatives during replacement-if these contents are not clear in the purchase contract, the hidden cost of the equipment when it goes wrong after three years may exceed the price of the equipment itself.
The contract should be clear after-sales terms:
The starting method of the warranty period (arrival date/installation date/factory date); the replacement method of faulty parts (replacement first or return first for testing); whether there is a local spare parts inventory or designated service partner for overseas projects; whether the remote support of firmware and CMS is included in the warranty scope.
CMS (Content Management System) is the most easily underestimated cost item in overseas engineering procurement. Some factories attract orders with "complimentary CMS", but the complimentary version may have restrictions on the number of devices, functional modules or service life. After the project is deployed, when customers need to add devices or enable advanced features, they find that they need to add licensing fees by number of devices or by year. The procurement phase should be clear: CMS authorization mode is one-time buyout of equipment, annual subscription or overall project authorization; Whether to support the customer's own account system; Whether to support multi-language and multi-store grouping; Whether the content can still be played according to the preset schedule in the disconnected state.
Parametric decision:At this viewing distance, the 43-inch 2K resolution fully meets the needs of text and image recognition, and 4K is not required. the brightness is selected 500 nits instead of 350 nits. the reason is that there is natural light interference in the area near the entrance of the store, and the models 350 nits will appear gray in the daytime. The panel grade requires a rule, and the central area has zero bad points-because the brand's promotional content is mainly light-colored background, and dark points are very conspicuous on light-colored background, which will directly affect the brand image.
Procurement results:The final choice Android 11 / 2GB RAM / 16GB ROM configuration, LAN networking CMS remote push. The supplier has agreed in the contract on the arrival inspection standard (rule A, no defective points in the central area) and 72-hour aging test report. After the deployment of the project, there were no after-sales problems caused by bad panel points.
Parametric decision:Multi-window playback requires the decoding capability of the SoC. If you choose an entry-level chip with a 2K panel, a video window will appear when four windows are played at the same time. The final configuration is 4K panel 4GB RAM / 32GB ROM,SoC supports multiple 1080P video synchronous decoding. The reason why the panel chooses 4K is not the viewing distance (the lobby is about 6 meters away), but the pixel density of each area after the multi-window partition needs to be high enough to ensure that the text is readable. Brightness selection 500 nits, the hotel lobby ambient light control, do not need higher brightness.
Procurement results:The vendor provides CMS with multi-window layout templates and timed playback capabilities. One of the key procurement actions of the project was to test the four-window simultaneous playback for 72 hours with actual content material in the prototype stage to confirm that there were no frame drop, Caton or system restart.
A certified commercial wall-mounted advertising machine specification shall contain the following contents. The more missing items, the higher the procurement risk:
List of Red Flag Signals:The specifications only have marketing words and no specific model; brightness write "up to" but no test conditions; contrast write "100000:1" but do not mark the type; certification documents can not provide model matching proof; after-sales terms "freight borne by the buyer" and no spare parts supply commitment. If any two of these items occur, it is recommended that the supplier be removed from the candidate list.
