QUNMAO, as the source factory, found that when undertaking the B- side inquiry machine project, many customers first struggled with the screen size in the selection stage, but the equipment form: how to choose the horizontal inquiry machine, vertical inquiry machine and wall-mounted inquiry integrated machine? It is also a touch inquiry terminal with different forms, which has a great impact on the space, installation conditions, operation height, operation and maintenance efficiency and overall budget.
Based on the measured experience of the factory, this paper makes a horizontal comparison of the three types of horizontal vertical wall hanging of the inquiry machine, and gives suggestions for scene matching that can be directly reused. This article is recommended to read first. CX1 touch query machine (query machine) product details, combined with this article to make morphological judgments.
The choice of query machine form is not "which one looks better" in essence, but "which type of structure better matches the venue, the flow of people and the business process". QUNMAO touch inquiry all-in-one machine product line mainly covers wall-mounted, vertical, double-sided screen vertical, full screen, K-type horizontal and L-type horizontal, of which the most common three types are wall-mounted, vertical and horizontal.
The wall-mounted touch inquiry integrated machine takes the wall installation as the core, and the whole machine is directly hung on the wall or partition without occupying the ground space. QUNMAO's 32-inch infrared wall-mounted inquiry machine QM-C32XJ-BG belongs to this category, which is suitable for locations with limited space such as corridors, outside service windows, guidance areas, elevator halls, etc.
Its advantages are less land occupation and flexible installation location; the premise is that the wall load-bearing, embedded conditions and installation height must meet the requirements. If the wall conditions are insufficient, blindly hanging the all-in-one machine on the wall will bring safety and maintenance risks in the later period.
Floor-standing information kiosks feature an integrated floor structure with screen, column/cabinet and base. Dual-screen floor-standing options are available for selected models. No wall alterations are needed; deploy on any level floor. Ideal for open areas like lobbies, exhibition halls, corporate receptions and mall directory zones.
Floor-standing information kiosks offer quick deployment and high visual impact, suited for one-way information display and frequent queries. The downside is their substantial floor footprint, which can create congestion in narrow passages or busy areas.
The horizontal inquiry machine usually adopts an inclined operation structure, and the user completes the inquiry in a leaning or slightly standing posture. QUNMAO horizontal inquiry machines are mainly divided into K-type and L-type: K-type horizontal inquiry machines are more compact in structure and relatively simple in operating surface; The cabinet of the L-type horizontal inquiry machine is more stable, and some cabinets have stronger accommodation and expansion capabilities.
For high-frequency human-computer interaction projects such as government service halls, hospital outpatient departments, and exhibition hall navigation, sloped and horizontal kiosks often better match visitors’ natural operating posture. For the detailed differences between K-type sloped kiosks and L-type horizontal kiosks, please refer to the subsequent KP11 article: *What Is the Difference Between K-type and L-type Horizontal Kiosks*.
Different forms of query machine is not a simple appearance difference, but in ergonomics, space occupation, installation conditions, cost and maintenance methods there are obvious differences. The following table can be used as a preliminary selection tool for B- side procurement.
| Comparison dimension | Wall-mounted Touch Information Kiosk | vertical inquiry machine | K-type Sloped Touch Inquiry Kiosk / L-type Horizontal Touch Inquiry Kiosk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operating attitude | Stand head-up or hand-up operation | Stand-up operation is dominant | Bend slightly, lower operating surface |
| Space occupied | Does not take up floor space | Occupied ground area | Occupying the floor area of the hall |
| Installation conditions | Dependent wall load bearing and embedment | The ground can be leveled | Open ground point required |
| Procurement cost | Usually low | Medium | Medium to high |
| construction cost | Possible increase in wall construction | Lower | Lower |
| Ease of maintenance | Wall removal or back maintenance required | More convenient | Convenient |
| Recommended scenarios | Corridor, elevator hall, outside of window | Hall, front desk, exhibition hall | Government affairs hall, hospital, exhibition hall |
The operating height of the inquiry machine will directly affect the use experience. When the wall-mounted touch and query integrated machine is installed too high, visitors need to raise their hands to operate; When the installation is too low, it is easy to cause inconvenience in viewing. The vertical inquiry machine is suitable for standard standing operation, but it is not necessarily friendly to the elderly and people with short height.
Due to the lower operating surface of the horizontal query machine, it is easier for visitors to view the screen in a natural posture, which is suitable for high-frequency query scenarios. QUNMAO found in the factory measurement that the man-machine acceptance of K-type horizontal inquiry machine and L-type horizontal inquiry machine is usually higher for projects with more elderly visitors such as government affairs and medical treatment.
If the venue is outside the corridor, elevator hall, and service window, and the ground space is limited, the wall-mounted touch and query integrated machine is usually more suitable. If the hall is open and the wall condition is general, the vertical inquiry machine or the double-sided screen vertical inquiry machine is more secure. If it is a high-frequency business inquiry hall and the ground point is sufficient, the horizontal inquiry machine is more worthy of priority evaluation.
Looking at the price of the equipment alone, the wall-mounted touch inquiry integrated machine is often lower. However, if wall reinforcement, embedded parts, installation of auxiliary materials and construction costs are added, the comprehensive cost is not necessarily the lowest. The vertical inquiry machine has fast deployment and low construction cost, but the land occupation cost is higher. The cost of horizontal query machine equipment is relatively high, but it can reduce the pressure of manual guidance in high-frequency scenarios, and the overall cost of ownership needs to be evaluated in conjunction with the project cycle.
Vertical inquiry machine and horizontal inquiry machine usually adopt front maintenance or side opening structure, which is more convenient for maintenance. After the wall-mounted touch query integrated machine is installed, the maintenance height and wall structure will affect the maintenance efficiency. Therefore, the selection of horizontal and vertical wall hanging of the inquiry machine should not only look at the first purchase price, but also include the maintenance cost of 3 to 5 years in the evaluation.
How to choose the form of the inquiry machine will eventually return to the venue and business. The following table can be used as a pre-project screening tool to help Party A quickly determine which type of touch query terminal to evaluate first.
| Application scenarios | Priority Recommended Form | Alternative Form | QUNMAO Selection Tips |
|---|---|---|---|
| Government Affairs Hall | K-type horizontal inquiry machine | L-type horizontal inquiry machine | High-frequency queries, prioritizing human-machine experience |
| Hospital outpatient hall | K-type horizontal inquiry machine | Wall-mounted Touch Information Kiosk | More elderly people, operating height is critical |
| Hospital corridor/referral area | Wall-mounted Touch Information Kiosk | vertical inquiry machine | Priority wall mount when floor space is limited |
| Bank branch | vertical inquiry machine | Wall-mounted Touch Information Kiosk | Both display and query, pay attention to the diversion line |
| Shopping guide area of shopping mall | vertical inquiry machine | Double-sided screen vertical inquiry machine | Strong sense of visual presence, suitable for guided tour |
| Transportation hub | vertical inquiry machine | Double-sided screen vertical inquiry machine | Pay attention to crowd density and anti-collision design |
| Enterprise Front Desk | vertical inquiry machine | Wall-mounted Touch Information Kiosk | Adequate Front Desk Space Optional Vertical |
| Museum/Exhibition Hall | L-type horizontal inquiry machine | vertical inquiry machine | Interactive exhibition items are more suitable for horizontal structure |
In the face of multiple options for horizontal and vertical wall hanging of the inquiry machine, QUNMAO suggests that the purchaser should first complete the following five judgments before deciding on the equipment form, instead of first determining the equipment and then transforming the site.
In order to more specifically explain the selection logic of the horizontal vertical wall hanging of the inquiry machine, the following is a review of the QUNMAO domestic municipal government service center project as an example. The key to this project is not to purchase a certain form, but to combine and deploy different forms of touch inquiry terminals according to the site conditions of different areas.
The government service center has a total construction area of about 32000 square meters, with a comprehensive acceptance window, a self-service area, a guide area and multiple service areas. At the beginning of the project, Party A plans to use all vertical query machines to ensure equipment unity and deployment efficiency. However, after on-site investigation, it was found that some areas of the hall were crowded with people and the ground points were tight. Some corridor service areas do not have enough ground space and the wall conditions are good.
First, if all vertical inquiry machines are used, the hall will appear crowded and visitors will be easily blocked. Second, there is no suitable ground point in the corridor area, and the vertical inquiry machine cannot land. Third, there are more elderly visitors, and the operation height and human-computer experience directly affect the efficiency. Fourth, the project requires the equipment to have stable infrared touch capability and support high-frequency multi-person operation.
Based on the results of the site survey, the QUNMAO project team proposed a "zoned deployment, mixed selection" solution. K-type horizontal inquiry machines are deployed in the main hall and self-service area to optimize the high-frequency inquiry experience. A 32-inch infrared wall-mounted inquiry machine QM-C32XJ-BG is deployed in the corridor service area to save ground space. Part of the open guide office area retains vertical inquiry machines to undertake the functions of information display and guide office.
Before confirming the scheme, QUNMAO also assisted Party A to complete the operation height assessment, wall bearing review, equipment installation point planning and operation and maintenance suggestion output. This is also the difference between the source factory and ordinary traders: not only to provide equipment, but also to participate in the early site adaptation judgment.
After the completion of the project, the high-frequency inquiry in the main hall is mainly undertaken by the K-type horizontal inquiry machine, which makes the operation of visitors more natural. The corridor area releases the ground space through the wall-mounted inquiry all-in-one machine. The vertical inquiry machine is responsible for guiding and displaying information. The overall deployment takes into account the space utilization, human-machine experience and operation and maintenance efficiency, and Party A approved the mixed form scheme in the acceptance stage.
This case shows that the type selection of the query machine should not pursue simplification, but should be judged comprehensively according to the site, people flow, business and operation and maintenance conditions. For more industry application details, please refer to CX3 "Touch Query All-in-One Application Scenario Inventory".
There is no absolute optimal solution for the horizontal vertical wall hanging of the inquiry machine, only whether it is suitable for the difference between the site and the business. The wall-mounted touch query all-in-one machine is suitable for space saving, the vertical query machine is suitable for rapid deployment and display, and the horizontal query machine is more suitable for high-frequency human-computer interaction. The purchaser should first do site survey and business combing, and then determine the equipment form, rather than first determine the equipment and then modify the site.
As a source factory, QUNMAO can provide integrated suggestions from form evaluation, size matching, touch scheme selection to project customization. If you are planning a touch query terminal project, you can make a preliminary judgment based on the selection list in this article, and then contact QUNMAO to obtain a targeted solution.
